Spending a lot of time thinking these days. Concentrating on selling my work through various venues; galleries, online, ebay auctions,Etsy shop, my website, the bead and button show in Wisconsin… Bottom line; everything must go, and some serious bills need to be paid in full!
Mind over matter. The ebay auctions are at record lows. The shops are all loaded with prices 25% lower than retail. Most of my time is on the computer.
Being determined to sell, I managed to FINALLY perfect my 18 gauge wire wrap. I am now pretty fast at it. I can get a bead done in under 5 min. The bail and the stopper are pounded flat, which makes the metal super strong, and adds another dimension to the pendant.
I have decided it is time for more of the marbles collection to hit the Internet. So, I have been working on photographing different colors, and forms.
As far as what my process is today, or in the last month. I have had to set aside my art time for my family. I have two kids that need some attention, and I really need to focus on money coming in right now. So, the process is to photograph, define, invest in marketing, etsy shop; a whole lot of time on the computer. I am teaching some glass classes, working 40 hrs a week on the computer for my Day job, and my whole life seams to be about making enough money to eat, and pay the bills.(Sorry to be so honest. I am sure, I am not alone!)
It is a good thing. Being busy outside the studio for a while. Gives me a chance to reflect on what I have done, and how I could do it better. Hopefully, I will get to get into the studio again soon. And, Watch me create will be one of the first to hear about that!
