My last post here was an introduction to a project I was working on for a special friend. I spent time reflecting on a friend that passed on in 1992. I am making his little brother some eye candy. I have retired the project at three marbles and one bead. (Unfortunately, I can not get oxygen with 2 kids in a Montecarlo – tiny car. So, I am using a generator that is NOT working correctly and everything I make with clear glass has carbon scum in it. Big ups to my neighbor who is helping get some tanked oxy to my studio in the next coming weeks!!)
Yes, the marbles are interesting, but that carbon wrecks it for me. Some day, I would like to make my friend a carbon free marble.
The eyes symbolize life, spirit, and the colors are energy; discordant, and harmonious. My thoughts- Maybe heaven is in the sky, or in the milky way. I used to watch the sun set at night, and on the horizon I would see clouds that looked like eyes, and I would think it was my friend looking down on me every time. And, maybe it was. It felt right to believe it; it feels good. I still see those eyes sometimes. I do not see the sun set very often anymore. I remember it.

The sphere is a symmetrical form, and encasing objects within it is magical . TOTAL eye candy. The colors are masculine to me; reds and blues.

The bead is something wearable, with the same theme. I wrote words by engraving the surface with metal; “Imagineer”, “Love”, “dream, “peace” . (Colin May was an Imagineer, he was appreciative of Love, he believed in dreams, and peace. These are important thoughts he would hope be positive for his little brother.) Each marble has eyes in the horizon with an implosion on the opposite side. All three are different, and are one of a kind. Three because three is my lucky number.

Sometimes I am able to peel the scummy carbon off the surface, and show off the clarity of this glass. With a generator that is not producing a consistent amount of oxygen, it doesn’t matter how much I peel, the carbon just sticks there.

I wish these marbles radiate positive awareness/happy energy, inspiration, interesting visuals, and perhaps a feeling of comfort. No, my friend Colin May is not physically here; his spirit will live on in our lives, an awesome Loving spirit worth celebrating.
“Dance!” – “Thank you” - “Live in the moment” – “Surf” – “I Love you” – “…shake your bones” – “A meanie”
…remembering Colin May
