Making eye murrini. Baby brown eyes. For the sake of passion, and unbelievable desire to remember someone. I am so honored when someone I know asks if I will make them something. (A lot nervous too…; I want it to meet the expectations they may have.)
This particular request was from Colin May’s little brother. Colin May is a beautiful man that lost his life too early. I had the pleasure of falling in Love with him, and I carry that love with me for the rest of my life, so getting a moment to devote to Colin is rewarding to me. Anyway, it did not have to be about Colin; but I am being pulled toward giving his little brother a moment to remember, and something that could reflect what Colin would want for him…or really I just want to reflect his spirit.
I made this eye while remebering Colin’s. In the photo it is approximatley 2″, and then I pulled it down to 1/4″ . So, I sliced a whole bunch of little eyes (murrini).

When I see Colin’s eyes (in my head) they are brown. And it looks like yellow light is radiating outward in vertical lines…And they are emotionally caring. (Worked out nice that I accidently twisted the eye when I pulled it down.) I just want the eyes to reflect emotion, and that slight twist in my pull set that off just right.
Since Colin gave me my first marble, I decided to give his little brother one. (The marble he gave me has one flat spot, and in that spot everything looks like it is way far away; pretty cool.) I am putting the eye I made in a marble (And then I will make some beads with the eye too.). I have made two marbles, and neither met my expectations (So far; I had an oxygen issue, and the glass trapped carbon in the surface, and it looks dirty.). I want a big burst of the most beautiful color on one side, a transition into a landscape, and an emotional eye…
a process…

I just took some pictures of the marbles for next time…
Thanks for reading….
