Yesterday I wrote a post on my lorigreenberg.com blog about having a bad day. I did acknowledge that it was only 10:30 in the morning and there was plenty of time to turn it around. Well, lo and behold (just what does that mean?) it did turn around.
At times when I can’t get my head clear I have this thing I do…I lay down on the bed, plug headphones into my iphone and either listen to relaxing music or some type of meditation that I find on YouTube. I do this for about 10 minutes and I either fall asleep (and hope to wake up better) or get up energized and renewed. Well, this time a strange thing happened…
…a finished bead appeared in my minds eye.

I have been working on some personal growth stuff and have been looking for a way to express my journey in my art, whether it be beads, painting, doodling, writing, whatever. This bead design that I saw is a conglomeration of ideas that I’ve been having.
The other interesting thing is that in my post yesterday I was ready to throw the whole bead designing thing out the window and gave into the idea of just playing. That is, just doing what I do, not worrying if it is a cohesive line like I’ve done in the past. When the beads were done annealing yesterday I took one look at them and thought, “all they need are some stitches and I have a new line.” Totally wasn’t going for that.
I really really enjoyed making these beads and for the first time in a long time (LONG time) I didn’t want to stop torching yesterday. That was a nice feeling. As with all of my experiments, I don’t exactly know how to take them. I liked them much more when they were molten and only my imagination was able to see what color they would be when they cooled.
I don’t know if I’m too close to them, if they don’t convey what I intended, my expectations were too high or what but they’re not grabbing me the way that I want them to. I wish I had about six months before Tucson to tuck them away and then revisit them. That is when I really like some of my beads…when I haven’t seen them in a long time.

Lori…I LOVE these beads! The shape is very organic and the use of color is great and a very interesting shape. Keep going with these…you may have seen something else, but I see some beautiful beads.

They really are quite fascinating beads Lori. The colours and shapes flow – and each one will be a unique expression of your talent.

Wanna know what “lo and behold” means? Well, for one thing it’s the name of my blog
LO are my initials, and with behold, I ask you to come and gaze upon something beautiful.
Lo and behold, on a bad day, you created some beautiful beads. I really like them. I’m inspired by your vesatility. I remember lots of stacked dots, and these are soo different. Very lovely.

I like how they seem like a clean path, like finding your way through it all…being safe as you walk through whatever it is that the world throws at you…very cool and expressive…
I would follow them and see where the design takes you…
