Semi precious stones and glass

January 7, 2010 - by sheilamorley

In my last post, I showed you what I was working on. These are the results.

Semi precious stones go so well with  glass beads.

I set these necklaces (made by my cousin Julia) next to me at the torch.  I set out all of the colors that matched the stones, and then let my flow go.

Turquoise is interesting to create a likeness with.  The colors available to me already resemble the real thing.  It kind of seems like I am making stones with the glass. In all reality, I am using the same elements in the glass that are naturally in the stones.

Making a bead specifically for a jewelry piece is a new perspective for me. I am looking forward to the challenge.  I am thinking about making a few more to choose from for this turquoise piece. I would like to have some Mother nature Goddess to add to the high energy stones.  She would have some sort of gesture that is respecting the stones.

Implosions inside a bead are awesome and full of possibilities. I am having some ideas for the implosions that I am looking forward to practicing this winter.

I am thinking of adding texture to the surface that contrasts with the elegant implosion within…

I have many more beads to make for many neck piece all made of many semi precious stones, and sterling silver findings. Each one is one of a kind. Proud that they are all made by my talented cousin, Julia.

On top of designing some focal beads for these necklaces; I am also working full time doing Auto Cad drawings, printing decals part time, and  making bead sets  (Yes…I am starting to do production! For today.)

2010 is going to be an exciting year.

Thanks for reading WMC.

love this idea, I started lampworking so I could have the right bead for my projects, I only make jewelry now a few times a year, gifts holidays and such…I think it is a great idea to make beads with the final destination more clear in ones mind, thanks for reminding me of this…
