Finally Finished The Pantry!

Yes, it’s finally finished!

Have you ever taken on a project that ended up being more work than you thought it would be? Then it starts feeling like an anchor around your neck until it’s finished? I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Whew, I’m glad that’s over.

If you haven’t seen the previous posts I made documenting the project, you can see them by clicking on my name in the categories list on the right of this page.

I took pictures of the steps as I went along. Here is one panel before painting the sunflowers.

Now, I almost got carried away and forgot to take pictures as I went along. This next picture is after I detailed the leaves and painted the basecoat on the petals of the sunflowers. It took about 3 coats to cover the petals sufficiently.

In this next picture, you can see that I have done some shading of the petals in the main sunflower.

Now, I have to be honest. By now, I am really, really, sick of this pantry, and my painting got worse and worse as I went along. I just wanted it done! At this point, I really didn’t care if it was less than perfect. It’s just a cheap particle board pantry and I’ve already spent way more time on it than I had planned.

If it were a nice solid wood pantry that I knew would be around for many years to come, I would have been more serious about my painting. I still think it looks much better than it did before I painted it.

This next picture is after I did a little more work on the main flower.

And here is the completed floral motif.

Remember, I had to paint this motif, 6 times! I was tired. In total, it took me 3 days just to complete the 6 motifs on this pantry. I was so relieved to finally have it finished.

And, here is the full pantry, before and after. What do you think?

wow…very lovely!! My one project I took on years ago I’ll never forget was stripping a portion of my wooden stairs…less than half way through, buried in dust I knew I had taken off more than I could chew. Finally finished days later, and the end result was worth it. The Pantry turned out beautiful!
