Creating Under Pressure

June 19, 2009 - by nancysellsglass

Nancy Sells Glass Garden Dsk! Dsk! Dsk! Necklace

Am I the only one? I bet not. For as long as I can remember I’ve had a bad (?) habit of putting projects off till the last minute. Sound familiar at all?  Case in point… every summer I like to create new jewelry to wear to Bead & Button and the ISGB Gathering. I know I don’t “have” to but it helps me push my limits, makes me think outside the box. And usually that creativity really blossoms about a week before the events!

Another example of creating under pressure was my collaboration piece with Lori Greenberg. We had months to work on our piece and ended up squeezing it in and putting it together in less than a month. Could we have spent more time planning it out… yes. Would it have turned out as well… who knows?

Nancy Sells Glass Red Tentacles

My Red Tentacle necklace came together about two weeks before I needed it. I found a great dress that could handle a crazy necklace for my cousin’s wedding and out to the studio I ran. I have to admit I stole this idea from my friend Paula Canant (who needs a website in the worst way).

So the Gathering is only a month away now. Time to begin figuring out what I’m going to wear (can you believe it?) so I can make sure I have fun, new pieces to coordinate. I’ll be gone a week… that means I have some work to do! I’ll be able to use the necklaces I wore to B&B, but that leaves me with four new necklaces to design. Time to wrap up this blog and get going!

Nancy Sells Puffer is a lampwork bead/jewelry artist from Grand Rapids, MI.  She blogs from time to time and has a  website as well… But her true obsession is Facebook!

Creating under pressure is the only way I get anything done! I am now so under pressure that I am assured of cranking out some greatness! Love your work. Very stunning examples of the beauty of glass. That red one is amazing! Enjoy the day! Erin

I figured there were more of you out there! The only reason I got the Tentacle necklace done so early was because I wanted to wear it to B&B the week before the wedding.

Again, thanks for the compliments. I’ll pass them on to Paula! ;-)

All three pieces are gorgeous! And I understand the working under pressure thing, it’s funny how the best ideas can come when we’re down to the wire!

    Beautiful beads and jewellery, congratulations!
