Evolving Glass Cloud Formations and a Sneak Peek.

April 1, 2009 - by lorigreenberg

So you saw what I consider a disaster-in-cute in my last post where I tried to make clouds and suns.  I was seriously starting to wonder if there was something wrong with me…no comment from the peanut gallery, please.  But I’m determined.  Like I said…I WILL do CUTE if it kills me, and it very well might.  So I persevered. I came up with something that I liked and had to try it in multiple colors.  (there are even more experiments that what is shown here).  And this is what I came up with:

lori greenberg glass cloud beads

I like both the periwinkle and turquoise but for the jewelry I’m envisioning I like the more royal blue color.  So I pursued that.  I believe that a lot of something can make anything look good.  Take a mediocre bead (like these) and show them with a whole set of others just like it? BAM!  It doesn’t look as mediocre anymore. See what I mean:

There is a flaw in that theory with these beads though.  While they look good and cloudy, if you didn’t know they were clouds you might not realize it because there is so much going on. So, the strategy is to intermingle them with other summer-themed cute beads.  So the illusion of clouds will come through.  Your brain will fill in the reality gaps and paint the full picture.

My next endeavor in this design is to add those summer beads. To develop a cutesy sunshine and some other summer imagery.  I’m not quite sure what yet but in brainstorming what says summer to me I’m also kicking around the idea of a nice, ice cold beverage imagery necklace with ice cubes and lemons and limes.  I think the impending hot weather in Arizona will be good motivation.

But, first, I need to get through this other design that has suddenly appeared.  People asked for a sneak peek so here’s one:

Hi Lori- I immediately thought those cloud beads would look good paired with some kite beads…must be the blustery April weather outside my window that is influencing me!
    Enjoy the day!

I like your fun beads Lori. You’re right, your mind needs to rest in between the clouds, to digest it properly.
