What do you keep on your nearby shelf or window sill near your work space?
My studio is in my sunroom, so I have three walls with windows looking out on my back yard. Each sill functions as a shelf instead of being left pristine.
One window holds all of my glass presses. I think there are about eight seldom used ones that are sitting side by side. Next to that is my Santa ornament collection. Who knows why I leave that one out? Okay, I do know. I use these Santas for more than Christmas. Some are leaning, another one is bending over, and their body shapes and angles are used as references when working on my whimsical sculptural glass beads.
And of course there’s this little vignette sitting close to my torch, (but not too close!). It holds a few little items that make me smile. There’s a broken bead that reminds me of my robot phase of beadmaking, an adorable little Sultan from a Happy Meal, a soft white bunny toy, assorted real and glass seashells which always are endearing, a glass mouse that I saw being made before I knew how to make them too and a glass color puck from Kugler, which is one of my favorite colors. Not exactly Architectural Digest interior design, but each one has a reason or a memory that means something to me.
So what do you have nearby for inspiration or to make you smile? We’d love to hear about it.

I Love window sill objects! I like to my beads on my kitchan backsplash. I call it “back splash art” for fun.
